Week of retrofit engagement across West Midlands

Retrofit Action Week (RAW) West Midlands brings residents, communities and industry together.

Retrofit Action Week (RAW) West Midlands is here to unite residents, communities, and the industry in our journey to decarbonise homes.

Enabling everyone with a role to play in decarbonising West Midlands’ homes to get involved, RAW provides a range of free-to-attend events and activities from 11th – 19th May 2024.

Registration is now open for the first round of events announced today:

• Birmingham Retrofit Summit, hosted by Birmingham City Council – online, AM’s 13-15 May

• The Home Upgrade Show – Birmingham, in-person, 16-17 May

• Birmingham Green Doors – various locations, in-person, 11 and 16 May

• Leca Insulated Flooring Solutions CPD Webinar – online, 14 May

With the retrofit of local homes being a key priority for the West Midlands Combined Authority from 2025 as greater devolved spending powers kick in, RAW will galvanize regional stakeholders around the rapid retrofit scale-up opportunity and demonstrate how best to ensure maximum benefits are captured.

Show and tell

RAW starts with resident-focused ‘show and tell‘ tours in retrofitted homes around the city, organised by Birmingham Green Doors. These tours allow residents to visit the properties of those already living in a retrofitted home.

Throughout Retrofit Action Week, further activities will occur across the West Midlands, including events to support local authorities, housing associations, community groups and residents.

Graham Lock, founder and director of Low Carbon Homes adds: “There’s palpable excitement across the region about the arrival of more extraordinary devolved powers and the prospect of a new Government which will further boost the local retrofit market. Retrofit Action Week will help galvanise local action, providing an opportunity for anyone to get involved at a level to suit their needs.“
