Caplor Energy Ltd. has announced that it has been accredited as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a growing number of businesses that are redefining how they do business by pursuing purpose and profit.

Caplor Energy Ltd. has announced that it has been accredited as a B Corporation (or B Corp).

The non-profit organisation driving the B Corp movement, B Lab, has certified Caplor Energy as adhering to strict social and environmental standards, demonstrating its dedication to objectives other than shareholder profit.

The B Corp accreditation includes five core impact areas:

  • Governance
  • Workers
  • Community
  • Environment
  • Customers

The certification procedure is rigorous, and candidates must obtain a benchmark score of at least 80 while demonstrating their commitment to ethical business practices in energy supply, waste management, water use, worker remuneration, and diversity. The business must formally enshrine its dedication to a purpose beyond profit in its company articles to receive certification.

Recent spotlight on renewables

The B Corp certification of Caplor Energy is a noteworthy development. Given the recent spotlight on the renewable energy sector, it signifies a shift towards increased responsibility and transparency in the sector. Caplor Energy is now part of a community of 6,279 businesses globally certified as B Corps.

Neil Evans, managing director, said: “This is an incredible achievement for us as a business, and I am excited that this is just the start of this journey for us.

“As a renewable energy installer, we are already focused on our impact on the planet. This accreditation will simply allow us to be more transparent and accountable to our customers, employees and community.

“It is exciting to be part of the movement and be at the start of our journey to be a ‘force for good’. I look forward to bringing more information over the coming months of what we have achieved and how we’re improving.”
