Time is running out to nominate people for the 2013 Awards for Excellence. The awards are organised by SummitSkills, the sector skills council for building services engineering, and recognise the sector’s most talented technical and professional operatives and engineers.

Nominations can be made in the following categories and must be submitted by Friday 30 August:

  • Experienced Existing Worker of the Year (Mechanical)
  • Experienced Existing Worker of the Year (Electrical)
  • Technician Engineer of the Year
  • Alfred Manly Management Award (for junior and middle managers)
  • Professional Engineer of the Year  – Ann Noblett Memorial Scholarship
  • Environmental Excellence Award

Head of skills competitions and awards at organisers SummitSkills, Neil Collishaw, said: “The Awards for Excellence are a celebration of high standards and quality in the building services engineering sector. We want to get an insight into the excellent work that is taking place every day – but we need to know about it so now is the time to nominate those whose work needs to be recognised.”

The closing date for applications is Friday 30 August 2013 and nomination forms, showing minimum qualifications that nominees must have achieved for each category, can be downloaded at www.summitskills.org.uk/awards. Candidates can be nominated by training providers, colleges or employers.

This year’s awards ceremony will be held at The Skills Show at the NEC in Birmingham from November 14 to 16.  The final of the Skill M&E craft competitions, also organised by SummitSkills, will take place at this event too.
