Building merchants PTS has taken home the top award in the Employment Scheme category at the national Business Charity Awards. The accolade is in recognition of its work with Leicestershire Cares, an organisation which helps ex-offenders and the homeless get into work.

At a ceremony at Grosvenor House, London on Monday 20 May 2013, the PTS team took home the trophy for its Homelessness Project, which was mostly run via its Leicester Distribution Centre, and provided mentored work placements for 32 Leicestershire Cares clients.

Ian Hall, PTS regional distribution centre manager and coordinator of the Homelessness Project, said: “The whole team is incredibly proud to have been recognised for the time and hard work that made this project a success. It is really the icing on the cake after seeing a number of Leicestershire Cares clients come into their own and gain confidence after just two weeks of mentored support.”

Monica Kimche, director of Leicestershire Cares, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won the Employment Scheme Award and congratulate PTS on their fantastic achievement. We are tremendously grateful to Ian and all his staff for their commitment to our clients, which has been recognised by this tremendous award.”
