Wind farm developer appointed Snowdonia planning chief

Jonathan Cawley, who works for wind farm developers West Coast Energy, has led attempts to build renewable energy projects around the UK which is a source of worry to conservationists and residents who oppose turbines being constructed in the National Park.

Conservative MP Glyn Davies expressed a cautious acceptance of the appointment saying: “(Mr Cawley has) clearly satisfied the people who appointed him.

“Some of the people here are outraged and they cannot understand what is going on.

“It does look from my perspective and for a lot of us here as if they have appointed the fox to look after the chickens. It looks incredibly odd.”

Mr Cawley will take up the post later this month after resigning from his position at RenewableUK Cymru.
