Grant UK welcomes new team members

Two new area sales managers have joined Grant UK’s sales team, providing customer support in the field for all of its products.

Grant UK welcomes Jim Moody as Area Sales Manager for Central and Southern Scotland and Terry Townend as Area Sales Manager for the Midlands.

Jim Moody has been appointed as central and southern Scotland’s new area sales manager, and Terry Townend is the new area sales manager for the Midlands.

Jim Moody and Terry Townend join Grant UK’s field-based sales team to deliver sales support to heating engineers, installers, merchants and other customers in their areas, working closely with the company’s regional sales managers and sales support engineers.

As the area sales manager for central and southern Scotland, Jim will cover the counties between the Scottish Borders, Dumfries, and Galloway up to Stirling and Argyll and Bute. Meanwhile, Terry will be the new area sales manager for the Midlands, covering Merseyside, Manchester, South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Jim and Terry have backgrounds steeped in the heating industry, each with experience with traditional and renewable home heating systems.

Experience in the field

Jim’s plumbing background started when he completed his apprenticeship while living in South Africa. After moving to Scotland, he worked as a plumbing and heating sub-contractor on new installations and repairs. In 2017, Jim stepped away from the tools after over two decades as an engineer to join a heating manufacturer as their technical sales manager for Scotland.

In this role, Jim significantly grew the region. Still, following a serious leg injury, he was forced off the road. He took up new roles managing technical support before joining a skills training group where Jim completed the programme to become a trainer and assessor. More recently, Jim has been a sustainable home centre manager, providing extensive customer support with heating system design.

Meanwhile, Terry’s career in the plumbing and heating industry spans twenty years. He has worked in the merchant sector, starting his career in boiler spares before becoming a sales supervisor at a national merchant.

Specialist in renewables

Seventeen years ago, Terry moved to another national merchant, where he joined as an assistant branch manager before taking on an area sales role. In 2011, Terry was an original member of the merchant’s specialist renewable sales team, working closely with installers, developers and social housing clients to help them specify and install low carbon, renewable heating technologies. Having worked as a renewables specialist for over a decade, Terry is experienced with air source heat pumps and low temperature systems.

“I am excited to get out on the road again in my role as area sales manager for Grant UK,” comments Jim.

“Travelling over the most beautiful parts of the UK and chatting with some of the best heating engineers and customers are the job’s best perks. I am looking forward to building relationships with existing Grant customers as well as meeting new customers looking to work with Grant.”

“Like Jim, I am looking forward to my new role as an area sales manager for Grant UK,” said Terry.

“With my experience of low carbon heating and my knowledge from working in the merchant network, I want to help make the transition into renewables as simple and easy as it can be, supporting existing and new customers.”
