Experience a Day in the Life of Lisa Gibson, managing director at Eco Heatwave, and gain insight into the world of heating industry leadership.

Name: Lisa Gibson
Organisation: Eco Heatwave
Job title: managing director
Location in the UK: Grimsby

Your company/business in one line: Eco Heatwave is a hidden far infrared heating product that heats your space evenly and responsively without costing the earth.

My alarm goes off at …
“I am very lucky and don’t have to be woken by an alarm. There is nothing worse than waking to an alarm, in my opinion. My husband is an early bird and wakes me with iced water and a smile most mornings. A great start to the day!”

The first thing I do each day is
“I check the news, social media and my emails as I am coming to. Then begins the military operation to get my two younger sons fed, dressed, ready for the day and out of the door to school with everything they need for the day ahead.”

I prepare for the day ahead by …
“I am a big fan of to-do lists and find the reminder tool on the iPhone to be of particular use when planning for the day ahead. I use it mainly to ensure I have everything I need to keep the house and my family ticking over.
“I use a similar system at work, too. It helps me to organise my day and prioritise tasks. My competitive streak, also means that the jobs I don’t particularly want to do,e also get done. This way, I can say I’ve ticked everything off, which is of course, a win.”

I can’t leave the house without …
“My iPhone and Macbook. I have found they make such a difference when out and about as they often draw comments and enquiries and have been a good source of lead generation since I bought them. I also usually have with me a nice orange lipstick, so that I am always on brand. My current favourite is the  Boujoir Colour Boost Chubby.”

My typical day…
“You will most likely find me meeting new prospective clients, demoing Eco Heatwave’s hidden heating solution or collaborating with our product development partners. We have been working hard to improve our own brand, Far Infrared flexible heating product.

“Every day is different. I recently assisted one of our new installers in specifying a large primary school. We had been working on a specifier tool and wanted to see it in action to understand if there were any adjustments that we needed to make to it to make it easier for our electricians to use. I then visited an existing client to capture their experience of the heating system for one of our mini case studies for marketing our newly launched product.”

My most memorable work moment …
“My most memorable work moment to date was when we received our first delivery of Eco Heatwave’s innovative hidden heating system. It was exciting to open up the boxes and inspect the product we had worked hard to develop and refine. A very proud moment.

“We saw so much potential for this kind of flexible heating system but recognised that with this being a relatively new technology, we would need to ensure every aspect of the design, control and installation methodology needed to be done properly. Receiving the delivery resulted from a lot of hard work to get it right.”

The worst part of my job …
“I honestly can’t think of a ‘worst’ part of the job. Working for yourself is so rewarding. I guess the only thing that isn’t particularly pleasant is that because you are so invested and passionate about your product/business, it is often difficult to switch off.”

The best part of my job …
“The best part of my job is the flexibility to do as you please. Back in 1996, I was entered into the Young Engineer for Britain competition in my last year of school. I designed and made a pressure/temperature sensor baby monitor that I had developed as part of my GCSE Design Technology Course.  Following the event, this ended up being produced and brought to market.

“I have always been convinced the new product was based on my design. I am proud that I have been afforded the luxury of designing and developing my own product and I’m thrilled to bring this to fruition finally.

I relax after work by …
“I love spending time on Cleethorpes beach. We often go as a family to meet friends for walks or paddleboarding sessions after school, especially in the summertime. There’s nothing better than breathing in the salty sea air. I also love to cook and find it quite therapeutic. My husband and I regularly host dinner parties for our friends and family, and I recently managed to perfect my pasta-making skills.”

On my bedside table is …
“I usually have a book on the go. At the moment, I am reading The House on Sunset Lake by Tasmina Perry. I also have my Decleor Night Balm. I cannot sleep without it. It smells so good and keeps my skin in good condition.”

The last thing I do each day is …

“Usually, the last thing I do is prep all the kids’ clothes and bags for the next day. My husband and I usually wind down together with a glass of wine and an episode of our current Netflix series. We just finished Firefly Lane last week, so any recommendations for our next one would be welcomed.”

I’m normally in bed by …

“22:00 is my usual bedtime. However, if I am finding it hard to switch off, I will use Better You Magnesium and Lavender sleep spray on the soles of my feet, which is deemed to be a good way to help you sleep. To be fair, it does tend to work quite well.”
