Call for new-builds to be fitted with solar panels as standard

A petition calling for all new-builds to be fitted with solar panels as a condition of planning permission has been launched on the UK Government and Parliament website.

The petition, which has attracted 13,553 signatures to date, demands a mandatory condition for all new buildings to be fitted with solar panels to help achieve the UK’s net zero goals without sacrificing more areas of beauty.

100,000 signatures needed

It is hoped that the new standard would also help to bring down household bills, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions.

The subject will be discussed and considered at Parliament if the petition can gather 100,000 signatures before 20th December 2022.

The petition can be found here.
