Forest Fuels achieves BSL approval

Forest Fuels is pleased to announce that it is amongst the first UK biomass fuel suppliers to be included as an approved supplier on the DECC Biomass Suppliers List (BSL) for both wood chip and wood pellet.

The Biomass Suppliers List is a method which will be used to provide RHI participants with a simple way to demonstrate that their fuel complies with RHI sustainability standards. From Spring 2015 all biomass fuel must meet this criteria for installations to qualify for RHI payments.

Managing director, Peter Solly, Forest Fuels, said: “Having been involved in working groups in the early days of the BSL process, we are pleased that scheme is now live.  The BSL one of a suite of ways that DECC ensures that installations supported via the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme cut carbon emissions and that the fuel they are burning is sustainably sourced.

“As a supplier approved under the BSL, Forest Fuels demonstrate that the wood fuel we provide will deliver at least 60 percent cuts in carbon emissions and also comes from auditable, sustainability grown sources, great news for clients and the planet.”
