Fall protection specialist Eurosafe Solutions has secured an agreement with a Dutch designer and manufacturer of wind turbines, to test and inspect its fall protection systems on its turbines across the UK.

This includes taking care of over 40 wind turbines in private rural land-based locations, stretching from Cornwall in the South to Aberdeenshire in the North, Humberside in the East and Merseyside in the West.

For each turbine, Eurosafe Solutions’ team will test and inspect personnel anchor points, in accordance with BS EN 795 and EN 50308:2004 (Wind Turbines, requirements for design, operation & maintenance).  The team will also carry out a LOLER inspection of their internal goods hoist, as well as a PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) inspection of internal access ladders, plus testing and inspection of cable-based fall protection systems to the internal ladders to EN 795, plus  rescue equipment inspection.

John Boyle, director of Eurosafe Solutions, said: “Wind turbines are a growing part of our test and inspection service for fall protection systems. By their very nature turbines are installed in exposed locations and as a result the fall protection systems, particularly those installed external to the turbine are exposed to a regular battering by the elements – making the need for a regular inspection programme all the more necessary. We are looking forward to further developing our work within the renewable sector.”
