The UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) has announced the appointment of Euan McVicar as its general counsel.

Euan is currently a partner at international law firm, Pinsent Masons, where he specialised in the financing and development of energy projects.

Euan is rated as an energy specialist by both Chambers and Legal 500 and in 2010 he was named Legal Advisor of the Year at the Scottish Deals and Dealmakers Awards. Based at the bank’s headquarters in Edinburgh, Euan will be responsible for advising GIB on all its legal activities and will report to the bank’s ceo, Shaun Kingsbury.

UK Green Investment Bank ceo, Shaun Kingsbury, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Euan to the Green Investment Bank team as our General Counsel. He brings exactly the right blend of clean energy and legal expertise to support our growth and development. He is one of the UK’s most accomplished and respected specialists in our field and will play a central role in the ambitious plans we have for the bank.”

Euan McVicar added: “I have followed the Green Investment Bank’s progress for some time and was delighted when Edinburgh won the bid to house its HQ. I am, of course, very excited about the opportunity that my new role at GIB offers while at the same time hugely sad to be leaving Pinsent Masons at a time when the future of the firm looks so bright. However, I look forward to joining Shaun and the team and getting started on the vitally important work of GIB in helping the UK transition to a more sustainable, greener economy.”
