Nottingham-based PV installer EvoEnergy has secured investment from UK construction and civil engineering company Stepnell.

EvoEnergy says the partnership will allow it to establish market leadership in solar energy in the UK and accelerate its growth in the ECO and Green Deal markets.

With over 6,000 domestic installations to its name, the firm has turned its attention to external wall insulation to meet growing demand from the social housing sector.

The move will create further jobs in the solar industry and EvoEnergy is currently recruiting for positions across the company, including commercial sales, business development and engineering.

“This is a fantastic move for our companies,” said Dr Kevin Hard, EvoEnergy chief executive.

“The innovative and nimble business model of EvoEnergy and the strong financial position of Stepnell will allow us to strengthen our position in photovoltaics and accelerate more quickly into the energy-efficiency market.

“Stepnell is a great fit for us and I’m looking forward to working together with the team to enhance the company’s renewable energy and energy efficiency service offering.”

Mark Wakeford, managing director of Stepnell, added: “Our two businesses have shared values in trust, quality, customer service and reducing their environmental impact.

“In EvoEnergy we saw a committed staff working well in a part of the construction industry that we believe will be shaping the foreseeable future.

“Combining Stepnell’s expertise in contracting and refurbishment with EvoEnergy’s technical expertise in the green sector will provide real synergy to both companies allowing each to meet the coming challenges that face our customers. We are looking forward to working closely with EvoEnergy and in supporting Kevin and his team in their drive to grow the business.”
