SolarWorld praises EU price dumping complaint

Global PV manufacturer SolarWorld has welcomed the European manufacturer initiative’s decision to file a formal complaint with the European Commission against alleged illegal price dumping of modules by Chinese solar companies.

The company also supported a similar initiative in the United States last year which saw the US Department of Commerce impose anti-dumping duties of over 30 percent.

Dr Frank Asbeck, ceo of SolarWorld, said: “We speak for fair competition in Europe. Only through fair competition will it be possible to reach European climate goals, advance solar technology in the EU, and maintain a strong industrial base.

“We are confident that the European Commission will understand the need to act, and will not waste time in adopting similar measures (to the US) in Europe.”
