Industry backs VAT letter to chancellor

Over 40 organisations have joined the Sustainable Energy Association in calling for a ministerial statement over proposed changes to the amount of VAT levied on energy saving materials in the UK.

An open letter has been sent to chancellor George Osborne regarding the recent EU ruling which forbids member states from applying reduced VAT rates on renewable technologies and other energy efficiency measures.

This could see the current VAT rate of five percent increased to 20. The letter calls for confirmation that nothing will change until at least the March 2016 budget.
