Wait now over for Domestic RHI

The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) has finally now launched, as confirmed by climate change minister Greg Barker via social media.

The first such scheme in the world, homeowners are now able to apply to Ofgem for payments for renewable heat systems installed since July 2009.

REI editor Paul Stephen said: “This is the news the industry has endured an agonising wait for and is long overdue. The three delays we have suffered since 2011 have taken their toll on the installation sector, but today is a day to look forward rather than back.

“Consumers will now have greater confidence to make their renewable heat purchasing decisions whilst guaranteed tariffs for the next seven years will help them achieve significant savings when energy bills are at an all time high.

“All this can only strengthen the powerful financial case installers are able to make to pursuade their customers to make the greener choice.”

Full industry reaction to follow.
