Fronius gets active in energy efficiency

Fronius International has opened the Active Energy Tower at its Austrian HQ which it says is completely heated and cooled without generating any CO2 emissions whatsoever.

Using PV, geothermal energy and other energy efficiency measures, the tower contains the company’s solar electronics division which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The facade of the building provides shade and thermal insulation whilst glass elements of the tower contain crystalline cells to generate power. A PV roof system also contributes clean electricity and incorporates fronius’ own inverter technology.

“The Active Energy Tower demonstrates that the dedication of Fronius to energy efficiency goes well beyond products and services,” said Martin Hackle, head of the Fronius solar electronics division.

“We are currently working on the realisation of a showroom that will give visitors a closer look at some applications of our products.”
