Ultimate heating

Ultima Solar has announced the launch of technology which it says will take over from traditional hot water heaters and existing solar thermal systems to deliver truly affordable hot water.

Its new thermodynamic panels, which the company has sole UK distribution rights for, comprises of two main components. An aluminium black coated panel is fitted externally to a roof or wall and a cylinder and compressor unit. Ultima Solar says that unlike traditional solar thermal heating, the thermodynamic panels work day and night, in wind and rain because it can absorb solar and environmental heat all year round.

The system works in a similar way to a fridge or heat pump by using non-toxic refrigerant to transfer heat to hot water. The cycle is constantly repeated giving hot water at 55ºC with cylinders available in 100 litre, 200 litre and 300 litre capacities. Panels do not need to be south facing either and the system will still generate hot water whether its east, west or north facing.

A user-friendly control panel is also included plus safety features such as a 2kW electric emmersion heater to prevent the development of legionella pneumophila bacteria.

Alistair Smith, director for Ultima Solar, said: “We are all very excited about this new product and have high expectations for it in the UK. It ticks all the boxes for a green, environmentally friendly product that will also give the end user huge savings in their fuel bills. Thermodynamics is the future for hot water heating and is poised to change the way we heat hot water, not just in the UK, but also throughout the world.”

The manufacturer states that this product is fully compliant with the Water Supply (Water Fitting) Regulations 1999 statute and bears a CE number, European Technical Approval and a BSEN number.
