GB-Sol gets watertight

GB-Sol has announced that its roof-integrated mounting system, which already meets MCS’s new MCS012 standard, has been used to develop testing systems designed to ensure that PV roof kits are completely watertight.

GB-Sol’s Bruce Cross said: “Working with BRE as partners in the Eur-active roofer project, our roof integrated system (RIS) was used to develop the tests which inject dense tropical rain in the horizontal airstream from a wind tunnel at the roof, while simultaneously imposing a vacuum behind the roof. This simulates the very worst case conditions and shows that our system is completely watertight even when rain is leaking through the surrounding tiles or slates.

“Installers who buy the GB-Sol PV roof kits get a market leading product with the longest UK track record at a cost-effective price. They have been reporting back to us that the total time of installing the integrated system on a new-build development is much less than that to install an over roof system. When combined with the savings on roof coverings, the total project cost for our RIS is often cheaper than an overtile system.”
