As part of the changes to the senior management team, Andrew Hillier MRICS has stepped down as joint managing director in order to focus on the strategic development of the business in his new role as non-exec chairman alongside founder Andrew Sheldon.

Commenting on the appointment, Ice Energy founder and managing director Andrew Sheldon, said: “Richard brings with him a wealth of successful experience in the field of heat pumps and has intimate knowledge of government policies such as the RHI, Green Deal and ECO. I’m pleased that he will take the helm of our fast-expanding operations and allow me to focus on strategic developments such as the creation of innovative funding models allowing organisations and individuals alike to benefit from the vast range of advantages heat pumps have to offer.

“Helping to reduce the growing issue of fuel poverty and the UK’s dependence on expensive fossil fuels have always been key objectives for Ice Energy and I believe this strengthening of our management team will allow us to do just that. I am grateful to Andrew Hillier for his huge contribution to Ice Energy so far and I look forward to focusing on Ice Energy’s long-term strategy with him.”

Richard Freeborn said: “I am delighted and extremely excited to be able to play an active role in helping Ice Energy continue to be positioned at the forefront of the heat pump market. This is a period of huge opportunity for the heat pump industry and I hope to use my experience, knowledge and passion for renewables to help the business to continue to meet the needs of our significant customer base in the delivery of superior products and excellent customer service.”
