Weight loss

trina solar
Trina Solar has today announced a new frame design across its full range of 72-cell monocrystalline and 60-cell polycrystalline modules. The frame thickness has been reduced from 40mm to 35mm, with products becoming immediately available.

According the to the company, the thinner frame profile delivers a five per cent reduction in weight, making modules substantially easier to handle and reducing the time needed to complete projects. Trina Solar’s 72-cell monocrystalline modules now weigh only 14.9kg, down from 15.6kg, and 60-cell polycrystalline modules now weigh 18.6kg, down from 19.5kg.

The reduced weight should also enable improvements in shipping container efficiencies, with associated reductions in the carbon footprint and transport costs.

Commenting on the latest product development, Zhiguo Zhu, Trina Solar’s module business unit president, said: “This update to our module range is a testament to our continued commitment to outstanding product quality and to our status as a strong partner to our customers worldwide. The thinner frames make the installer’s job easier, while also making our modules stronger and more durable to reduce the risk of breakage.”
