NSA seeks new members

The National Skills Academy is seeking to boosts its membership.

The training organisation says that becoming a member not only demonstrates your business’ commitment to the future’s low carbon workforce; it pitches your business as a forward-thinking, reputable organisation. Membership also enables businesses to draw on some valuable promotional benefits too, such as the use of the now widely recognised logo.

The National Skills Academy offers three levels of membership: Platinum, Gold and Silver. The varying degrees of commitment could see businesses receive vouchers towards the cost of training, access to member-only National Skills Academy events and online knowledge hub, promotion via the website and recognition within its brochures and marketing materials.

One such business reaping the benefits of the Academy’s membership is Groundtherm, a renewable design and installation company located in the North West of England. Groundtherm is a founder member of the National Skills Academy’s network of employers, and has had a hand in the growing renewable technology sector for almost a decade.

The last two years has seen Groundtherm’s expertise support a number of further education colleges; including National Skills Academy approved centres, Oldham and The Manchester College; assisting with their renewable technology training. As a result, ‘Groundtherm Education’ was established, an educational partnership arm of the business, seeking to install the highest quality workshop and training facilities in local colleges, as well as imparting its knowledge and experience of the green marketplace.

Managing director of Groundtherm, Andy Louth, said: “It was an obvious choice to become members of theNationalSkillsAcademyas its network presents the leading environmental technology training in the country, adding credibility to our own business aims. It is vital that employers get behind the Academy and help it in its delivery of quality training and generally raising standards within the sector.

“Further education must have the capacity and knowledge to support the huge up-skilling activity required in this industry over the next decade. Ensuring the highest quality training facilities are in place is key – that can only be achieved by working in partnership with industry experts; such as the National Skills Academy.”

He added: “Groundtherm helps provide real-life experience in the design and installation of green technologies, perhaps bridging the gap between the curriculum and actual scenarios. We can advise on all areas; from how equipment works in practice, structural surveys and how experience and the appropriate training through reputable sources is invaluable.”
