Harvesting the sun

Crockwell Farm in Eydon, Northamptonshire
Agricultural PV specialist Powersun is holding a half-day seminar for farmers to bring together experts in solar technology, finance, and best practice PV system design for farms.

The seminar will feature nine different speakers including experts from the NFU, Fisher German and Inenco. It will be held on the morning of Tuesday 11th December at Crockwell Farm in Eydon, Northamptonshire.

The seminar will focus on issues around raising finance, and achieving a return on investment using Renewable Obligations Certificates (ROCs), power purchase agreements (PPAs) and feed-in tariffs (FiTs). It will also discuss aspects of personal taxation relating to solar financing. Powersun says it will explain how farms can maximise income through smarter PV system design, and other speakers will highlight the latest developments in panels, inverters and mounting systems.

“Recent research shows that a third of farmers plan to invest in renewable energy within the next two years, and solar PV is their favoured technology,” said Ian Brent-Smith, managing director of Powersun.

“Many of the farmers we speak to would like to take advantage of solar PV, but sometimes struggle to get good independent advice about finance options, tax implications and up to date information about incentives. We’ve assembled a team of experts to answer all of their questions in one place.”

The half-day event is free to attend for farmers, and includes lunch and a tour of Crockwell Farm’s own solar PV installation. Places are limited. Farmers can register for free at solarpvforfarmers.eventbrite.co.uk
