Accreditation first for northern biomass installer

Andrew Cosgrove of Acos Renewable Energy in Tyne and Wear has become the first installer to achieve the certificate for HETAS’ H005BR and H005 biomass installation courses in his area.

Biomass installer competence body HETAS says that demand for its courses is increasing as more homeowners and businesses turn to biomass boilers to replace traditional forms of heating.

Andrew attended Schiedel Chimney Systems’ HETAS accredited training centre at Washington in Tyne and Wear to undergo a mix of practical and theoretical assessment.

He said: “With the introduction of the RHI, I have seen a huge increase in the installation of biomass boilers on the commercial side of things. This is an incentive for businesses to lower their carbon footprint and for me it provides a new market.

“By completing this five day course with Schiedel Chimney Systems and receiving the official HETAS accreditation I can now offer customers 100 percent reassurance and educate them about their heating system to ensure that its performance is maximised.”
