Lark Energy completes 3.4MW solar farm

Bird’s-eye view: Lincolnshire-based Lark Energy has led construction of one of the largest solar farms in East Anglia at Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire
Lincolnshire-based Lark Energy, alongside Posolia UK and Oakapple Renewable Energy, has completed the construction of a 3.4 MW solar farm in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire – one of the first major PV plants in the region.

The solar farm, located at Reach Drove in Whittlesey, near Peterborough, comprises 14,000 PV panels and will generate enough energy to power 900 local homes.

Lark Energy completed the development work, including identifying a site and achieving planning permission, prior to the entire project being acquired by Prosolia and Oakapple. Lark Energy was retained to construct the solar farm, leading the project from start to finish.

The company’s managing director, Jonathan Selwyn, said: “I am delighted that work has been completed on the solar farm in Whittlesey. The project was completed and connected very swiftly to secure the prevailing Feed-in Tariff.

“This solar farm provides a great example of how companies can work together to develop, finance and construct a major renewable energy project in a very short space of time.  We are convinced that the future for solar in the UK remains bright and we look forward to developing further projects of this type.”

The company plans to have an official opening of the new solar farm later this year.
