Training and certification provider BPEC says it has donated almost £30,000 to charities which use plumbing to enhance life.

At its inaugral Life Ward presentation ceremony held on 24th October, The BPEC Charity gave out four awards in memory of the company’s founding chairman Raymond J Brooks at Derby’s Pride Park Stadium.

The BPEC Charity Life Award 2012 was presented to Lee Firth at NG Bailey in Leeds for design work on a project in Mozambique which will deliver safe drinking water to a health clinic.

A conditional award of £10,000 was handed to Burnley College to take apprentice plumbers to Uganda to help deliver safe drinking water to village communities.

A Development Life Award of £6,000 was given to Martin Biron from the college of North West London to assist in the development of an online training environment.

A Merit Life Award of £1,500 was presented to Fareham-based plumber John Booth for his involvement in the Peace & Hope Trust’s charity work in Nicaragua. The money will allow him to return to the country and continue reconstruction work following earthquakes and civil war.

BPEC chairman Frank Glover said: “BPEC is delighted to have presented four seperate awards at our inaugral BPEC Charity Life Awards event. Each of the award winning entries has shown how plumbing can make a difference to life, and we congratulate this year’s winners.”
