University of Glamorgan partners with GB-Sol

GB-Sol’s managing director Bruce Cross

The University of Glamorgan will be partnering with PV manufacturers GB-Sol as part of their latest research project to develop what it calls ‘the next generation of battery pack’.

The battery concept contains lithium ion technology and is designed to have 40 percent more capability that any other storage solution which does not use liquid cooling. Using lightweight packaging and a scalable battery management system, the battery will have a capability to recycle energy to the whole battery pack.

Bruce Cross, managing director, GB-Sol said: “There is great potential for energy storage to benefit both off-grid and on-grid PV. I am delighted to be an industrial partner in this 18 month project.”
