Chris Huhne visits Worcester, Bosch Group

 The secretary of state for energy and climate change, Chris Huhne, visited the headquarters of Worcester, Bosch Group to see the extensive manufacturing and training facilities and talk with staff at the company. Following his tour of the factory, where condensing boilers are manufactured, and its £1.5million training academy where thousands of installers attend courses throughout the year, Mr Huhne praised the company’s focus on training for installers and apprentices.

On Worcester’s apprenticeship scheme, Mr Huhne said: “The apprenticeship scheme here at Worcester, Bosch Group is absolutely crucial to the reputation that this company has for quality. Training is an extremely essential part of giving the customer a high quality service.”

Mr Huhne then hosted a Q&A session with the press. He was questioned on a number of issues including the Feed-In Tariffs, the UK economy, the Renewable Heat Incentive and the Green Deal he was also keen to draw attention to the basic things consumers can do to save energy and reduce fuel bills. “Consumers need to shop around in the short term to switch to a cheaper supplier and take extra steps like insulating their homes,” he said. “It also underlines the importance of having a good, efficient boiler to avoid wasting energy.”

On the Feed-In Tariff Mr Huhne said: “The key thing we’re trying to do with the Feed-In Tariff Scheme is make sure there is a sustainable business for the long term. Mr Huhne concluded: “Worcester, Bosch Group is a really good example of successful British manufacturing with high quality products and an effective operation.”
