Renewables for building designers

Renewable energy can play a key role in reducing carbon emissions from the built environment, and is required for most new build projects to achieve building regulations and planning requirements. Renewables are becoming increasingly popular as a retrofit option into existing buildings to take advantage of the introduction of the Feed-iIn Tariffs (FiTs) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to be launched soon.

The course provides a broad understanding of renewable energy technologies and includes:

  • Key information on how best to use renewable energy technologies effectively and economically
  • Overiew of relevant planning issues and government incentive schemes.
  • Insight into how renewable technologies can be incorporated into a buildings design, discussing the impact on building structure and building services design
